YOUR DOG’S DENTAL CARE
Dental plaque rapidly forms on your dog’s teeth, and if left untreated can lead to the build up of tartar on the teeth. You can clean your dog’s teeth using a soft tooth-brush or special finger-brush, and special dogs’ toothpaste. Alternatively, special dental chews, such as OraVet, provide a convenient way to minimise the buildup of plaque or tartar on your dog’s teeth. If tartar is allowed to build up, there is a risk of gum disease and tooth decay developing. When this occurs, professional cleaning with an ultrasound de-scaler, under anaesthetic is the best solution, a procedure which can be carried out by your veterinarian. Your vet can also advise on the best way to look after your pet’s teeth including giving advice on special dental treats or rinses to reduce the risk of dental disease in your dog.
